Bookies all over the world are taking bets on the race for 2012 Olympic Games
Paris tops the list of candidates to host the world’s most important sports event, according to online betting services, standing that the city has the higher chance to get elected.
The other 4 cities (sorted by the given odds) are: London, New York, Madrid and Moscow.
Delegations from the 5 electable cities are gathering with the International Olympic Comitee (IOC) to coordinate the arrangements for the election day on July 6th, in Singapore.
Each one of the bid teams has to prove their cities’ sport facilites are suitable for the event, present logistics projects, and explain what makes their cities special and unique.
Before the gathering, the London bid team said 1.3 million people had registered their support for the Games since December, basing this information on a poll conducted by the mayor's newspaper, The Londoner.
The poll also showed 87% of Londoners said the city's mixture of cultures, languages and ethnicities improve their chances.
This comes after the bid team was forced to withdraw three incentive packages over fears they had broken bidding rules.
