Chelsea is going to be Manchester United’s opponent in the finals of the England Cup of soccer, after beating the Blackburn by 2-1 last Sunday. They had to go to extra time since they ended up tied 1-1.
The Football Association (FA) had not hidden their preference for the finals to face these two giants of English soccer in the first game of the official competition in the new Stadium of Wembley next May 19th.
Blackburn was very close to stop them from getting there, therefore the situation of the Blues was harder than the Red Devils who won easily 4-1 beating the Watford last Saturday.
Frank Lampard, who opened the score with a cross shot from the right, before Jason Roberts evened the score, and Michael Ballack, who took advantage of a shot of Salomon Kalou cleared by the opponent’s defense, made it possible for Mourinho’s team to maintain the dream of making history by winning the FA Cup (which they have won before), Football League Cup, Premier League and Champions League all in the same season.
On the other hand, Manchester United, after hamming the Watford in the first semifinal, continues to repeat its triplet of 1999, when they won the FA Cup, Premier League and the Champions League.
